Google Drive

Google Drive
For those of you lucky enough to have a GMail account, there is now a Windows Shell Extension that lets you use the 1Gb of space as a drive to store stuff on. Useful for transferring files around I guess

Another classic Ballmer-ism

Another classic Ballmer-ism
Geez, the guy doesn't know when to STFU! His latest gem?

Microsoft's chief executive believes it's naive to suggest the software giant can eliminate all security vulnerabilities in its various products even though engineers are trying hard to do so.

Hackers get smarter, too, Steve Ballmer told several thousand information-technology workers at the Gartner Symposium ITXPO

So, MS software isn't to blame, its the growing abilities of those digital miscreants out there....

America apologises to France

America apologises to France
This is the clothing label from a small American firm that sells their products in France.

Here’s the translation of the French part of the label:

1. Wash with warm water
2. Use mild soap
3. Dry flat
4. Do not use bleach
5. Do not dry in the dryer
6. Do not iron
7. We are sorry that our President is an idiot
8. We did not vote for him

Ballmer-ism of the day

Ballmer-ism of the day
Steve Ballmer is now trying to blame piracy on expensive hardware. The man's a buffoon that often comes out with these ridiculous announcements

Blogging for fun and profit

Blogging for fun and profit
Started looking more in depth at BlogShares, the virtual stockmarket for shares, when I noticed my fellow blogger Aaron Wormus owned 4000 shares in my blog. I registered last year but never did anything with it, but I'm slowly starting to understand how it works, and have started spreading my wings. Should be interesting to see where this goes....

Animals on the underground
Cool little site showing how line drawings of animals can be found on the London Underground map. Very quirky.

Pumpkin Carving

Pumpkin Carving
I notice from the weblogs that more and more people are coming to my site after searching for pumpkin designs and finding the picture of my design from last year. As a courtesy, I'm gonna put up this link to The Pumpkin Wizard who has loads of designs (some free, some not). Most of them are quite complicated (ie, they require advanced carving techniques such as partial carving away of the pumpkin), but if you're patient and careful, the effects are stunning. Good luck!

UPDATE Those of you looking for pictures of my design can find it here, and Alison's design here

Classic gaming meets Macromedia Flash - again!

Classic gaming meets Macromedia Flash - again!
There's far too many clever people on the internet. One in particular has made a Flash version of IK+. Goes without saying that you'll need Flash to play it.....

Pictures of a large Wang

Pictures of a large Wang
Oh those were the days - when you could say you had a big Wang, and people knew you were talking about a database server or word-processor.

WorkDayTimer source available

WorkDayTimer source available
I've released the source code to WorkDayTimer under the GNU Public License (GPL) for anyone that wants to tinker with it. Probably needs Visual Studio .Net to be practical, though you could edit and compile it by hand if you are so inclined

Deal Rotaract = Folkestone Rotaract

Deal Rotaract = Folkestone Rotaract
I'll tidy up the layout of this one later. The person who came here looking for Deal Rotaract (via Google) will find the nearest Rotaract club to Deal is in Folkestone. I know, cos I'm the president of it. Hopefully you'll come back and see this message :-)

Note to America

Note to America
Bush vs. Kerry, Republican vs. Democrat, left-wing vs. right wing? Here's a hint guys - we don't care! I'm so tired of news reports and websites being dominated by American politics. Here's a brit that really doesn't care, cos all US administrations run roughshod over the rest of the world, and Blair the puppy follows whoever is in charge anyway....

Windows C compiler

Windows C compiler
If you're looking for a C compiler for Windows that won't cost you anything (for non-commercial use at least), you might find lcc-win32 of use. It successfully compiled some stuff for me on Windows XP, so I'm reasonably confident it works on newer versions of windows.
