Breakin' and Poppin' In The Rain

Breakin' and Poppin' In The Rain
For all those fans of the excellent new Golf GTi ad based on Singing In The Rain, here's the remix track they used (949kb) - full version is not yet released as a record, but will be soon!

For those of you with no idea what I am talking about, the video clip is here

Update:
From Mint Royale's record company :-

"Neil from Mint Royale is going back into the studio on Monday to remix a full-length version of “singin’ in the rain”. You may remember that last week we were discussing the possibilities of a full-length version of the track that is currently being used as the sound track for the new VW Golf advert. We've had so many enquiries from all over the world that Neil said he’d give it a go and we’ll see what happens. Watch this space for more details! "

Banks - bloody useless!

Banks - bloody useless!
What is the deal with your average High Street bank these days? Every other business is open until at least 5pm, but the banking industry decides it has to be different (read inconvenient) and close before this time. Also, how hard can it be for them to ensure their lunchbreaks don't coincide with everyone else, so that there's more than two counter staff on duty when you pop in to your nearest branch and have to queue for precious lunchbreak minutes. Grrrr!

Taking a bite of the Apple

Taking a bite of the Apple
I've got a Mac on my desk at work now, so I've takent he opportunity to have a play with Mac OS X and see if its more than just a pretty face for Unix. So far its not too bad - managed to install Firefox easy enough, as well as a version of X11 - the challenge for me now is to try and get GAIM working on it. I also installed Mono but I've yet to test any .Net apps on the platform.

What has Ellen MacArthur ever done for us?

What has Ellen MacArthur ever done for us?
The media is currently heaping praise on round the world sailor Ellen MacArthur and there is talk of her getting a damehood for becoming the new world record holder for the fastest time sailing solo around the world. My verdict? So what? I can't see how this has benefitted anyone except Ellen herself, and her multiple corporate sponsors. To me, its not of any use to someone and I hold it in the same regard as I do these people that climb bloody great big mountains "because its there". The craters are of active volcanoes are there, but I don't see you buggers queuing up to jump right on in. Why don't they focus their efforts and resources on doing something thats of use to mankind?

In related news, still no cure for cancer......

Tattoo you

Tattoo you
A braver man than Andy Sakai would be hard to find. In prison for tattooing obscenities in Japanese on unsuspecting people, he has now fashioned a homemade tattoo gun in his cell and is tattooing fellow inmates - in his own inimitable style. Read the full story, which comes to you today via Fark

Return of Linux

Return of Linux
Finally managed to get my ADSL connection working under Linux, so now I have my Mini ITX machine dual-booting between Windows XP and SuSE. Can't say that I'm the worlds biggest KDE fan (SuSE seems to use KDE by default), but I'll gt used to it I suppose.

Laptop worked fine all afternoon at work, but as soon as I get it home, its back to its old tricks again with the screen. Bah!
